then what do u use for biological filtration in the wet dry filtrs? only live rock?

  6. blooddiamond96 on 10 Aug 2008 at 5:55 am #

ok can someone tell me whats the best filter system i can use and the best powerhead for a 35-44 gallon tank with two clownfish and their hosts amenome

Nice tank, but I still have to agree with everything DubbsReef said.

Ditch the bio-wheel and add another powerhead, those things can really spike nitrates.

Also I have to ask……why did you use fish to cycle the tank? Surely you realise that cycling SW isn’t like cycling FW. You don’t need fish to cycle SW, live rock cycles it. If you put in live rock and leave it the tank will cycle.

Speaking of which, if you get a job soon you can really get going!

hey whats up tanks look good but filll them up all the way to the top it will give u more water volume.your losing space by not filling them up all the way

  13. DubbsReefs on 23 Aug 2008 at 6:09 pm #

nice job, i am going to dissagree with some things though. i do not recomend using fish to cycle the tank, use a test kit not a “tester”. i would also ditch the bio wheel, the filter is fine but the whell itself will collect any type of dye off wich will turn into nitrate problems(same thing happens with bio balls for wet dry sumps, they turn into a nitrate factory). The wheels are best left to freshwater aquariums. other then that good luck with everything!

it doesnt cost that much man! if u get it all from your LFS then yeh itl cost a BOMB! if they sold a lighting unit for $100 odds are it cost them 50! look at sites like ebay .. and other auction sites .. u get the same remakes, same job, n same quality as anything from you LFS the only thing i would reccomend going to ur LFS is for help live rock and ofcause live stock.
